Jump to Recipe: Trunk Hot Dogs
Made for parents with six minutes of active effort
I’m the first person to say that not everything needs to be optimized and not everything is meant to run efficiently – but beneath the logistics, under the calendar alerts, past the car seat buckles and the insurance forms, there’s something bigger we’re all trying to protect: time.
Not the “get more done” kind. The “be here while it’s happening” kind.
Because we all know how it goes… Your baby’s laugh changes without warning. Your teen says something vulnerable in the exact moment you’re trying to merge onto the highway. Your aging parent wants help setting up the Wifi… but really they want you to stay for coffee/ And your partner texts “Do we have milk?” but what they really mean is “Are we okay?”
Jump to Recipe is just that, the express lane to give you back time for what really matters. I’m not talking about life hacks like “wake up at 5am so you get an hour to yourself before the chaos begins,” I’m talking about useful tips, tools and tricks from parents who have been there before. Because sometimes you just want the ingredients, not the origin story.
It’s only appropriate that the first Jump to Recipe includes a recipe – a small courtesy for hungry people with limited patience.
Ever need to feed a bunch of people (sometimes on the go) and A. don’t want to spend a million dollars B. don’t want to order pizza and C. ain’t got no time/interest/desire in cooking?
This one goes out to my sports parents, beach parents, or really anyone who only has “6 minutes of active work”
ENTER: Trunk Hot Dogs
Ingredients
Hot dogs
Hot dog buns
Condiments (mustard, ketchup, relish if you’re feeling frisky)
Cut 4 little slits on each hot dog (as many as you want)
Bake at 400 degrees (no need to preheat)
Put the hot dogs into the buns
Wrap the buns in tinfoil, ballpark style
Put the tinfoiled hot dogs back in the oven at 200 degrees for 15-20 min or until you’re packing up to leave
Bring along the condiments in the trunk for people to juhjz them to their liking
